About Jordan

Jordan is an Arabic country, officially Hashmite Kingdom of Jordan, located in southwest Asia spanning the Syrian Desert's southern part down to Aqaba Gulf. Jordan shares its boundaries with Syria to north, Iraq to its northeast, Israel and West Bank to west and from south and east there is Saudi Arabia. It also shares the control of Dead Sea with Israel as well as coastal line of Gulf of the Aqaba with State of Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Much part of Jordan is covered with the desert particularly Arabian Desert; northwestern area however, with River of Jordan is regarded as the part of Fertile Crescent. Its capital was Amman is in northwest during history, country has seen several civilizations including Sumerian, Mesopotamian, Persian, Babylonian, and Assyria.

 

Some cultures from west left their mark as Roman, Macedonian, Ottoman, Turkish Empire and Byzantine. Since 7 th century Area of Jordan had under the Arab and Muslim cultures with exception of brief period under the British rule. Heshemite Kingdom of Jordan is constitutional monarchy with the representative government.

 

Reigning monarch is head of state, chief executive and commander-in-chief of armed forces. King exercises his executive authorities through prime minister and Council of Ministers or the Cabinet. However Cabinet is responsible before elected house of Deputies.

 

King Abdullah I ruled over Jordan after the independence from Great Britain, after assassination of King Abdullah I in year 1951, son of King Talal ruled briefly and Major accomplishment of Tall was constitution of Jordan.
