About Jordan

Jordan is an Arabic country, officially Hashmite Kingdom of Jordan, located in southwest Asia spanning the Syrian Desert's southern part down to Aqaba Gulf. Jordan shares its boundaries with Syria to north, Iraq to its northeast, Israel and West Bank to west and from south and east there is Saudi Arabia. It also shares the control of Dead Sea with Israel as well as coastal line of Gulf of the Aqaba with State of Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Much part of Jordan is covered with the desert particularly Arabian Desert; northwestern area however, with River of Jordan is regarded as the part of Fertile Crescent. Its capital was Amman is in northwest during history, country has seen several civilizations including Sumerian, Mesopotamian, Persian, Babylonian, and Assyria.

History of Jordan

With Break-up of Ottoman Empire at the end of First World War, League of Nations and occupying powers select to withdraw borders of Middle East. Ensuring decisions that are most notable Sykes-Picot Agreement and gave the birth to French Mandate of the Palestine was east of Jordan river known as "Transjordan". Country was called as "Transjordan" under the British supervision until after Second World War. In year 1946 British request United Nations approve the end to Mandated of British rule in Transjordan. Following that approval Parliament Transjordanian King as first ruler of Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan. During Arab-Israeli War in 1948 Jordan captured some area of Cisjordan that is now called as West Bank

Definitions covers, data of crimes in Jordan shows that General Crimes area increased in Jordan during the period of 1998-2001, where total crimes increased from 29 thousand in year 1998 to 33.4 thousand in year 2001. Number from of some crimes decreased starting from 2002, and reached at 31 thousand and continued until end of 2005. It is also noted that several number of crimes has increased significantly by t10 thousand cased in year 2006 comparing to 2005. It is mention worthy that it is increase in the registering crimes that were not registered previously.

Sports

In Jordan most popular sports are basketball and football, increase of interest in the game of football can attribute to recent success of national football team of Jordan, after they qualified for AFC Asian Cup first time ever in year 2004. Basketball team of Jordan experienced the success after receiving a sponsorship by Zain, now team also participates in Middle East and Arab competitions of Basketball.

Jordan Hospitals

King Abdullah University Hospital

It is the largest hospital in the northern part of Jordan and serving approximately 1 million of inhabitants of Ajloun, Jerash, Irbid and Mafraq. It is a teaching hospital as well and affiliated with (JUST) University of Jordan Science and Technology. Hospital was built at the cost of $120 million approximately and was culmination of its efforts inaugurated medical facilities and serving the peoples of northern Jordan. In year 2002, hospital opened with its founding departments in the internal medicines, ob-gyn, special and general surgery, JUST medical, nursing students, dentistry, and laboratories.

Jordan Language

Regardless of religion or ethnicity, all Jordanians speak Arabic as their official language. Throughout Arabic world, language exists in three forms: Quran as Classic form of Arabic language. Development of language starts from classical and known as the Modern standard of Arabic language as well as local forms of spoken language. Standard of modern Arabic has virtually same structure where it is used, lexicon and pronunciation although, may vary locally. Many educated Arabs know two forms of the language, even uneducated are also the speaker and can also comprehend general meaning of modern standard Arabic, while classic Arabic is known to the scholars.

Wadi Rum

It is a Valley into granite rocks and sandstone in the southwest Jordan. Wadi is inhabited by many cultures since the prehistoric times including Nbateans leaving the mark in form of painting rocks, temples and graffiti. As the year 2007 several Bedouin inhabit tribes Rum and surrounding the area. This wadi may be known for connection with the British officer T.E Lawrence. During 1980s one of impressive rock formation in the Wadi Rum named as " Seven Pillars of Wisdom" in reflection of Lawrence's book in aftermath of war, though it is referred in book that actually have no any connection with the Rum.

Breakfast

Many Cafes in Jordan offer the Croissants for typical Jordan Break fast. It is a quick meal consisting dairy products and bread with tea and jam sometimes. In breakfast most used is cream and labneh (made of cow milk or domestic buffalo milk) it is served with dried mint, with olives and drizzled with the olive oil. Some pastries such as sfiah, manqeesh, kahi and fatayer are eaten sometimes for the breakfast. Flat bread with the za'tar Olive Oil is famous as well.

Jordan Population

A national census for year 2004 that was released in same year gave the following results. In October 2004, population of Jordan was 5,100,981, census estimated that are also another 190,000 who were un-counted for being out of country for at census time, census also showed that there was 2.5% of national growth rate compared to 3.3% of census 1994. Census shows that 51.5% was made up by males while 48.5% by females. Citizens of Jordan made up 93% of population while non-Jordan made 7%. There were about 946,000 families in the Jordan till 2004 with average of 5.3 persons per family. Next census is scheduled and has to place in 2014.

Jordan Weather

Major characteristic of climate is the contrast in Jordan between the rainy season starting from November to March and a semi dry weather for rest of year. There are also hot, dry, cool and uniform with freezing variable of winters during which precipitation occurs, country has Mediterranean-style of climate. Pressure of atmosphere during summer months are uniform relatively, winter months bring succession of the low-pressure areas with cold fronts. Disturbance of cyclone generally move eastward from over Mediterranean Sea many times a month, which result in the sporadic precipitation. Most of East Bank receives 620 millimeter of less than of rain.
